To enhance the livelihood through income generation by having a self employment activity to the farmers, School of Agricultural Sciences, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun has organized one day “Training cum awareness programme on Millets” on 10th March 2023 at Village  Dudhali. This programme was organized with the blessings of Honorable Chancellor Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj.

Dr. Priyanka Bankoti, Professor and Dean School of Agricultural Sciences delivered the welcome address; highlighted the need and different aspects of training programme. She also highlighted the benefits of millets.Dr. J.P. Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Agronomy spoke about Shri Anna Yojna. He also told about the benefits of rain-fed farming system to the farmers.Dr. Girish Chandra, Associate Professor highlighted about the minimum support price provided by government for millets Dr. V.K. Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Soil Science told the farmers about method of taking soil sample so that the farmers can increase his crop yield. Dr. Singh also talked about organic sources of nutrients like compost, FYM etc. So that farmers can limit the use of chemical fertilizer.

Dr. Tanuja Verma, Assistant Professor, Agricultural Extension, briefed about the importance of millets and different government schemes and programmes for millets production. She also discussed the problems which are facing by farmers in Dudhli village and suggested different measures to them.
