Master of Arts (M.A.)/Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Geography is a post graduation course offered by SGRR University, Dehradun. Geography is mankind’s oldest curiosities and long established branch of modern science. The scientific discipline of Geography strives to explore and to understand the variety that exists in the world’s natural and cultural landscapes. The students pursuing this course would have to develop in depth understanding of various aspects of the subject.

The working principles, design guidelines and experimental skills associated with different fields of Geography related to Physical Geography and Human Geography. The course consists of four semesters of six months each in two years. University offers 24 courses in the Master Programme in Geography. Each course has a maximum of 100 marks and out of the twenty four, eighteen courses are compulsory covering core areas whereas six courses are optional leading to specialization with 3 credits each. The core courses are offered in the 1st and 2nd Semesters, optional courses in the 3rd Semester, and specialization courses in the 4th Semester.

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) course is generally of four years duration and emphasizes original research with focus on primary data collection and analysis of data using advanced methodology and computer aided skills. Through teaching and research, the Department tries to play the vital role of Geography in a changing world.
