PLANT CLINIC AND FARMERS SCIENTIST INTERFACE AT ADOPTED VILLAGE

Farmers face constant challenges in managing plant health problems. Biotic causes (pests and diseases) and abiotic causes such as low soil fertility lead to regular and often significant losses in crop production and quality. Diagnosis is made difficult by a diversity of causes and symptoms with multiple possible origins. Choosing the best management options needs careful consideration.

The Farmers-Scientists Interaction Programme is a crucial initiative aimed at bridging the gap between scientific research and agricultural practices. This event brings together farmers and agricultural scientists to foster mutual learning, exchange of ideas, and the implementation of innovative farming techniques that can enhance productivity, sustainability, and profitability for farmers. The program is designed to empower farmers with scientific knowledge while allowing scientists to better understand the challenges faced by farmers in real-world conditions.

With the blessings of President SGRRU, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj and guidance of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) Yasbir Dewan ,school of Agricultural sciences organized farmers scientist interface  and plant clinc was organized in the adopted village Khushalpur and Lakshmipur of Sahaspur block, District Dehradun with the vision is to facilitate and sort out the issues of farmers related to plant health Diagnostic services.

A team of subject experts Dr. Khilendra Singh, Plant Pathologist, Dr Moinuddin, Agronomist Mr.Ashish, soil science visited the villages on 20 November 2024. The team members visited the villages and farmer’s field and tried to sort out technical issues of farmers related to crop health. Also recommended scientific techniques for crop management, organic farming, and crop rotation for maximum yield.

A diagnostic visit to farmer’s field, where participants were shown and identified pests and diseases under the field condition and phytosanitary measures to be taken for better and effective organic management was also undertaken. This hands-on approach allowed farmers to better understand the applications of the scientific concepts discussed.

During the programme various organic plant protection chemicals .organic manures were also distributed.
