A one-day practical training program was organized on the occasion of International Rural Women's Day under the aegis of School of Agricultural Sciences at Sri Guru Ram Rai University. In this program 20 rural women received training in fruit processing and mushroom products.
On this occasion the Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University Professor (Dr.) U. S. Rawat emphasized the need for the empowerment of rural women, processing of agricultural products and value addition to change the socio-economic scenario of rural areas. Honorable Vice Chancellor also expressed commitment to the university's contribution to the development of rural areas through such type of programs.
During this Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences Professor (Dr.) Priyanka Bankoti mentioned the significance of women empowerment in agriculture sector and she also highlighted the work being done by different departments of School of Agricultural Sciences.
During this, Dr. Suneeta Singh, Head, Department of Horticulture provided detailed practical information and training to rural women on preparing apple jam and marmalette as well as appetizers and RTS (Ready-to-Serve) of citrus category of fruits under fruit processing.
Mrs. Megha Suman, Assistant Professor, Department of Plant Pathology imparted training on the processed products of Mushroom. On this occasion Dr.Shobha Bisht, Ms Shagun Gupta, Dr. A.K. Saxena, Dr. Hitendra Kumar Dr. Khilendra Singh, Dr. V.K. Singh etc. were present.
