To commemorate the discovery of “Raman Effect” by the great Indian Physicist Sir CV Raman, National Science Day was celebrated in School of Basic & Applied Sciences, SGRR University on 28th and 29th February. All the Deans, staff and students of constituent colleges were invited to be a part of the event. With a vision to ignite a spark of creativity and showcasing the young minds of students of SBAS, the Science Day celebration constituted multiple events.

The event was graced with the benign presence of the Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) U.S. Rawat, Honorable Vice Chancellor, SGRR University, Guest of Honor Prof. (Dr.) Anita Rawat, Registrar, Uttarakhand Technical University.
The event started with the welcome address by the convener Dr. Kumud Saklani, Dean School of Basic & Applied Sciences followed with “Saraswati Vandana” and lamp lighting ceremony.
Guest of Honor, Prof. (Dr.) Anita Rawat, motivated students with her words of wisdom. She made them aware about the contribution of different leading scientists in Research & Development. She further motivated the students to create and innovate the concepts of theory in practical form.
Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) U.S. Rawat, Honorable Vice Chancellor, SGRR University highlighted the role of women in Science. Focusing on the theme of the National Science Day 2020: “Women in Science” Honorable VC Sir encouraged faculties and students to inculcate the basics and build a strong foundation of a fruitful career. He also stimulated students to choose a right career path and stay focused on it. The Guests were felicitated with a token of appreciation.
The Sciences exhibition and poster presentation was inaugurated by the Chief guest and Guest of Honour. The exhibition showcased multiple scientific working and static models from a spectrum of fields across science. There were 26 scientific models and 37 posters made by the students of SBAS. The Guests were enchanted with the model execution and presentation of the concept by the students of UG and PG level.
Further the commencement of the Fete at central lawn SGRR University, Patel Nagar campus was done by Respected Guests and Officials of the University. Students of SBAS enthusiastically organized a food fest by putting outlets in the form of stalls. Overall 18 stalls from students provided the “Taste of India” in form of different food items. A book stall from Bhatt Brothers was also on exhibit as an external vendor. Students of different colleges enjoyed the fiesta of the fete and made it a grand success. The complete events came to an end at 4:00 PM.
On 29th Feb 2020, Popular Lecture series on ‘Fossils to resolve buried mystery and its application in reconciling research problems’ was organised by Dept. of Botany SBAS
