Objective: This FDP on Emergent Pedagogies Approach for Institutional Innovation in Education provides a platform to learn the tools and techniques needed for the teachers and students of available resources for teaching and learning. It aims to provide the knowledge and skills needed for teachers to cater to the present-day learners and their learning styles.
Report: The National Level One Week Faculty Development Program was organized for six days 16th& 21thOctober 2023. Day 1 program began at 11AM with the Inaugural session of the FDP Opening remarks for the FDP were given by Prof. Dineshwori Chanu Paonam, H.O.D Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing which was followed by an introduction to the programme followed by Welcome address by Dr.Prof.G.Ramalakshmi, Dean, SGRRIM&HS College of Nursing.
Day 1: The speaker covered the topics such as “Computational Thinking and Critical Thinking” which can be used to promotes critical thinking and problem solving which is increasingly important in today’s world. Participants discussed over various aspects with the speaker.
Day 2: The program began with the introduction of Dr. Mehvish Khalid by Mrs. Rebecca Priti, Associate Professor, which was followed by the speaker’s interactive lecture on “Embodied learning & Use of multimedia in the classroom”.She mainly focused on the non-mental factors involved in learning that signal the important of the body and feelings. She also encourages the students to work in groups, express their knowledge in multiple ways and construct knowledge.
Day 3: The program began with the introduction of Mrs. Anu Grover by Mrs. Deepti, Assistant Professor, which was followed by the speaker’s interactive lecture on “Simulation & Context based learning”.She focuses mainly on training in a virtual environment that mimics real world activities and scenarios. Trainees can apply practical information and skills not merely by reading theory books or listening to lectures but also by engaging in physical, hand on activities.
Day 4: The program began with the introduction of Mrs.Sowrabha K.N by Mrs. Deepti, Assistant Professor, which was followed by the speaker’s collective lecture on “Problem based learning & Case based learning”. She elaborates that CBL require students to find solutions to cases while PBL uses cases to encourage students to acquire knowledge in related fields.
Day 5:The program began with the introduction of Mr.Sathish R by Mrs. Kriti Harjai, Assistant Professor, which was followed by the speaker’s interactive lecture on “Learning by science or remote labs & Unintentional learning”. He demonstrated how labs allow learners to practice and instructors to observe what students are learning and demonstration of skills He discussed about unplanned learning which occurs simply due to exposure to stimuli.
Day 6: The program began with the introduction of Ms. Priskilla Darbar by Mrs. Kriti Harjai, Assistant Professor, which was followed by the speaker’s informative session on “Learning through discussion & Adaptive Learning”. She mainly focuses onhow instruction can adjust and tailor learning experiences to meet the individual needs of each student and tract data of student progress, engagement, performance and provide personalized learning experiences.
Lastly by the end of the session Mrs. Shivani, Nursing Tutor gave the vote of thanks and concluded the six days faculty development programme.
Feedback was received from the participants and E-certificates were sent to the participants by mail.On the whole the program was well appreciated by the participants.
Outcome: The participants have acquired knowledge of the different aspects of “EMERGENT PEDAGOGIES APPROACH FOR INSTITUTIONAL INNOVATION IN EDUCATION”. Which they can implied in their day-to-day teaching and learning.
