Shri Guru Ram Rai School of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated the 10th World Pharmacists’ Day on 25th September 2020 on virtual platform (Google Meet). The purpose of the celebration was to understand and celebrate the role of Pharmacist’s in our society, especially during this period of Pandemic. On this day all the services offered by Pharmacist were recognized and valued. This year’s theme is “Transforming Global Health”. The keynote speaker for the program was Dr. U.S. Rawat Hon`ble Vice Chancellor Shri Guru Ram Rai University who gave an inspirational and motivational speech where he emphasized the role of pharmacists and the contributions made by them to the health care system. This was followed by the words of gratitude by the Registrar SGRRU Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Sahani for the crucial role that a pharmacist play in the medical world. The students also shared their views on the need to recognize the hard work and contribution of pharmacist to the society. The inaugural session ended with a vote of thanks by Prof.(Dr.) Alka N. Choudhary, Dean SPS SGRRU. She gave an insight on role of pharmacists in developing safe and effective medicines and vaccines.
This was followed by Session I in which Dr. Shah Alam Khan Professor, College of Pharmacy National University of Science & Technology Muscat, Oman delivered a guest lecture on Serendipity and Drug Discovery. He emphasized how serendipity has played a role in the discovery of several drugs. In the Session II Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Goyal Deputy Registrar Gurugram University Gurugram, introduced the different aspects of Pharmacy field to the students and highlighted the scope and applications of Pharmacy. This was followed by Q and A session with the students. The concluding part of the session was taken up by Dr. Manoj Gahlot, Chief Administrator SGRRU, who expressed deep sense of appreciation for all the speakers, esteemed guests and students for their participation. The function further continued with a online Pharma-Quiz, in which the students participated with great enthusiasm.
