HARSH AND POORNIMA EMERGE VICTORIOUS IN BADMINTON

- THE THIRD DAY CRICKET, VOLLEYBALL, BASKETBALL, TABLE TENIS, BADMINTON COMPETITIONS ORGANIZED

Dehradun. On the Third Day of the Annual Sports Meet Khelotsav of Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU) Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis and Badminton competitions were organized. In Cricket, the team of School of Humanities and Social Sciences defeated School of Engineering and Technology and entered the final. In Badminton, Hrash and Poornima defeated their respective rivals and emerged as victorious.

On Wednesday, the sports competitions that were played at different grounds, were inaugurated by Dr. Pankaj Mishra, Registrar, Research and Development, SGRR University. The Cricket game was played between School of Humanities and Social Sciences and School of Engineering and Technology. The team of School of Humanities and Social Sciences won the toss and decided to bat. They scored 102 runs for 3 wickets in the decided 10 overs. Gaurav Kumar scored 27 runs on 13 balls with the help of two sixers, while Ayush also gave significant contribution scoring 20 runs on 7 balls. The team of School of Engineering and Technology was able to score just 58 runs for 7 wickets in the decided 10 overs. Nitin of School of Humanities and Social Sciences took 3 wickets. The team of Humanities and Social Sciences with this victory has ensured its participation in the final. 

 In the First Semi Final of Volleyball Boys, School of Humanities and Social Sciences defeated School of Basic and Applied Sciences by 21-11 and 21-13 and entered the final. In the other Semi Final of Volleyball Boys, School of Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences defeated School of Management and Commerce Studies by 21-15 and 21-14 and thus secured a place in the final. 

In Badminton Singles Boys, Harsh of School of Basic and Applied Sciences defeated Rithik of School of Management and Commerce Studies by 2-1.

In Badminton Singles Girls, Poornima of School of Basic and Applied Sciences defeated Manisha Bisht of School of Humanities and Social Sciences by 2-1 and won the Final Trophy. In Badminton Doubles Boys, the pair of Tanish Panwar and Vivek Panwar won, while in Girls Section, the pair of Niyasha and Ankita emerged as victorious. In Girls Volleyball, School of Basic and Applied Sciences defeated School of Management and Commerce Studies by 21-19 and 21-13 and won the final. The occasion was also marked by the auspicious presence of Dr. Puneet Ohri, Dr. Deepak Som, Dr. Pankaj Chamoli, Dr. Meenu Chaudhary, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Mandeep Narang, Kamal Bijlwan, Sanjay Negi, Dr. Naveen Gaurav, Dr. G.D. Makker, Dr. Yogesh Joshi, Chandrashekhar Tailor, Dr. V.K. Singh, Sunil Kishtwal, Dr. Amarlata, etc.
