National Sports Day - 29 August, 2024

''Champions keep playing until they get it right''

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, a legendary hockey player, National Sports Day was celebrated at SGRRU School of Education on 29th August, 2024. The day raises awareness about physical activity, sports, and overall health. Sports not only develop a sense of friendliness and team spirit but also help develop physical toughness and mental health. It shapes the body, makes it strong and active. A special assembly was organised with the aim of instilling a sense of respect towards sports in the minds of young children as well as to develop team spirit, leadership and sportsmanship qualities. 

Dean School of Education Prof.(Dr.) Malvika Sati Kandpal said that sports help us to be physically and mentally active. It also boosts confidence among students and so it should be made an integral part of our life.  B.Ed HOD Dr. Balbir Kaur said that National Sports day is not only a tribute to one of the greatest players but also reminds us about the importance of sports in our life. Sports should be a part of our daily routine, as it acts like a stress buster which further helps to develop a positive energy. The B.Ed student Priya Gaur gave a brief speech about the National Sports day. B.Ed I Year students actively participated in the Programme and also expressed their views on different games like Hockey, Cricket, Volley-ball, Taekwondo etc. The program was honoured by the presence of all the faculty members and students and marked the occasion as a wonderful event.
