SGRR Observes Jan Aushadhi Diwas with Pharmacist Awareness Seminar

On March 5, 2025, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), hosted a Pharmacist Awareness Seminar in celebration of Jan Aushadhi Diwas. The seminar aimed to highlighted the importance of generic medicines, their benefits, and the pivotal role pharmacists play in enhancing healthcare accessibility.

The event featured two distinguished guest speakers. Mrs. Dolly Arora, an alumni of School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and proprietor of the first Jan Aushadhi store in Dehradun, shared her experiences in ensuring the availability of affordable medicines. She currently owns four such stores in the city. Mr. Shivam Raghav, Nodal Officer for Jan Aushadhi in Uttarakhand, provided insights into the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Scheme, emphasizing its impact on public health and exploring opportunities for pharmacists to further contribute to community health.

The seminar was attended by Prof. Divya Juyal, Dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Director of IQAC, along with department heads, faculty members, and students. This event was part of a nationwide series of seminars organized during Jan Aushadhi Week, observed from March 1 to 7, 2025, to promote awareness about the Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana. The initiative encourages pharmacy students about opening of Jan Aushadhi Kendras, promoting self-employment and thus enhancing public access to affordable medicines.

The celebrations include various activities such as awareness campaigns, health camps, and educational seminars to promote the use of generic medicines and underscore the role of pharmacists in public health.

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences continues to contribute to public health awareness and the promotion of affordable healthcare solutions through such educational initiatives.
