UNIVERSITY WILL ORGANIZE FARMER FAIR (KISAN MELA) EVERY YEAR
Dehradun. A One Day Farmer Fair (Kisan Mela)-2023 was organized for framers and micro entrepreneurs at Shri Guru Ram Rai University. Minister for Small & Micro Industries, Khadi & Gramodyog, Social Welfare, Minorities Welfare, Student Welfare, Chandan Ram Das participated in the programme as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he said that one of the prime objectives of the foundation of the state of Uttarakhand was to promote the local farmers of Uttarakhand. He said that the state govt. has always made efforts to give a boost to Uttarakhand’s hill agriculture, cattle rearing and medicinal herbs. As a result, the rural farmers are getting aware of modern agriculture and reaping its benefits. He urged Uttarakhand’s farmers and small entrepreneurs to get associated with the modern model of agriculture. He said that it’s a must to accept the productivity and significance of khadi.
He said that the state govt. is also giving employment opportunities in the field of Khadi Gramodyog.
On Tuesday, the One Day Farmer Fair (Kisan Mela)-2023 was inaugurated by Uttarkhand Govt.’s Cabinet Minister Chandan Ram Das. He congratulated Shri Guru Ram Rai University’s School of Agricultural Sciences over the organizing of Farmer Fair(Kisan Mela)-2023. He said that these types of farmer fairs associate the farmers with the current market demand and modern demand. These types of farmer fairs provide suitable platform to the small entrepreneurs to where they are able to make their products reach the market and customers. He also raised concern over the destruction caused by wild animals and monkeys to the agriculture in Uttarakhand hills. He said that there is the need to promote such crops in Uttrakhand hills which do not attract destruction by wild animals, monkeys, etc.
Whle addressing the gathering over the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Prof. (Dr.) Uday Singh Rawat said that more than 50 stalls have been made available at the fair to farmers and small entrepreneurs free of cost. In the Farmer Fair (Kisan Mela)-2023, agriculture specialists of the university explained modern farming and its techniques in detail to the farmers and entrepreneurs. He said that SGRR University will be organizing Farmer Fairs (Kisan Melas) every year.
In the Farmer fair (Kisan Mela)-2023, hill dishes like Mandue Ki Roti, Pahari Razma, Jhingore Ki Kheer were also enjoyed by the people. Veterinary doctors gave detailed information on care and protection of cattle from diseases. Officials of State Bank of India, acquainted the farmers and small entrepreneurs with the government schemes to start small enterprises. Significant roles were played by Shri Guru Ram Rai University’s Registrar Dr. Ajay Kumar Khanduri, Co-ordinater Dr. R.P. Singh, Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences, Dr. Priyanka Bankoti, Co-ordinator of Farmer Fair (Kisan Mela)-2023, Dr. Deepak Som, Vijay Nautiyal, Vijay Gulati, Manoj Tiwari, Dean, HODs and Faculties of various departments in making the programme a success. A large number of farmers, small entrepreneurs, Doonites and students of Shri Guru Ram Rai University enthusiastically participated in the Farmer Fair (Kisan Mela)-2023.
