PROGRAMME ORGANIZED AT THE INITIATIVE OF SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
International Mother Tongue Day (Matra Bhasa Diwas) 21st February was celebrated with flying colours by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Hindi Deptt. of the school organized an essay competition on: carrier of thoughts, deep relation of language and culture, language and multi language: International scenario, language and diversity, unity in diversity was organized.
The Opening Ceremony of the programme was done by Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences. In her address to the gathering, she emphasized the significance of mother tongue and its preservation. She said that this essay competition is an ideal platform for the students to exhibit their talent and creativity. She said that such types of competitions are essential for the all round development of the students. In the programme, students of all the departments participated. In the competition, Poonam won the first position, while Poornima and Shefali won the second and third positions respectively.
She informed the students that the objective of celebrating International Mother Tongue Day is to promote cultural diversity as well as displaying the significance of the mother tongue. She said that this day makes us aware about our language and preservation of our culture.
Dr. Geeta Rawat said that its so commendable that the studenst have participated in this competition with utmost enthusiasm and exhibited their skills. She said that this experience will be beneficial to the students in future.
The programme was coordinated by HOD, Deptt. of Hindi, Dr. Kalpana Thapliyal and Anjali Dabral. The faculty members present at the occasion also shared their thoughts ad said that the mother tongue is just our cultural heritage but is also an important medium of our education and expression.
The occasion was also marked by the auspicious presence of HODs of all the departments, faculty members and students of of School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
