The first Convocation ceremony of Shri Guru Ram Rai University was organized on Tuesday, 11th April 2023. In the ceremony, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami was present as the Chief Guest while Higher Education Minister of Uttarakhand Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat attended the ceremony as the Guest of Honour. MLA, Dharampur, Vinod Chamoli and Ex Chairman, University Grants Commission & current Education Adviser, Honourable Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh Govt., Prof. D.P. Singh were also present as main speakers.

The Convocation Ceremony started with the arrival of Academic Procession which was led by Vice Chancellor, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Prof. Dr. U.S. Rawat. In the academic fest, Registrar, Board of Governors, Board of Management & Academic Council members also made a notable presence. The programme was initiated with lamp lighting in front of the statue of Goddess Ma Saraswati.

Vice Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Prof. Dr. U.S. Rawat Honoured the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, main speakers with flower bookeys, robes of honour and mementoes. Vice Chancellor of the University while delivering welcome speech wished for the golden future of the students as well as presented the facts and figures of the academic excellence of the university. The Vice Chancellor said that the students must always follow the path of truth and honesty and discharge duty towards parents & teachers. He also made the students take oath of following the religious books. The Vice Chancellor urged the students to efficiently use their education and skills making their distinct identity as now they are moving from the academic environment to the environment of competition.

The Vice Chancellor said that the University was established in the year 2017 under Shri Guru Ram Rai education Mission. He said that under the charismatic leadership of University’s Chancellor Shri Mahant Devendra Dass Ji, the mission is touching new horizons in the fields of higher education, medical education and education while serving the mankind. He informed that the university is working in cooperation with many national and international higher education institutions by signing MOUs with them. As a result, 38 MOUs and multiple research linkages it is achieving on national and international levels. He informed that the university has published more than 25 patents till today. Out of which, 8 have been honoured. The university has published more than 1,400 research papers in the last 6 years. He said that the Innovation and Incubation Centre of the university is constantly working to covert young entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship into market based products. He urged the students to use their academic potential in the best manner and uplift the society.

Over the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, also read out the congratulation message of Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Shri Mahant Devendra Dass Ji. He said that the University Chancellor has congratulated the university family for organizing the first convocation ceremony of the university and called it an hour of happiness and proud. He wished for the success of the convocation ceremony and golden future of the students. According to him, Shri Guru Ram Rai University has been a model of intellectual integration resulting in quality education.

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami marked the occasion with his auspicious presence as the Chief Guest. While addressing the gathering over the occasion, he extended congratulations to the students passing out students receiving degrees. He said that the students must adopt ideal qualities that lead to making of a better society and nation. The Chief Minister said that the students of any institution are its best Brand Ambassadors. He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is given a path to the country for self reliance in which the role and contribution of students is of utmost significance. He said that the students must accept every challenge and turn it into an opportunity. Today India has emerged as the second biggest start up hub of the world. The Chief Minister expressed optimism that the students of SGRR University will bring laurels to Uttarakhand in the whole of India. He also

extended hearty congrats to Shri Guru Ram Rai University on the successful magnificent organizing of this convocation ceremony. He said that credit of successful organizing of this magnificent First Convocation Ceremony of SGRR University goes to the hard and smart team work of faculties, staff members and students. The Chief Minister congratulated SGRR University family for the successful organizing of eth convocation ceremony.

Guest of Honour of the programme, Higher Education Minister of Uttarakhand, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat while addressing the students said that research and development can bring constructive changes in the society. He emphasized that the syllabi of the universities must be based on current market demands. He said that he is pleased to see that Shri Guru Ram Rai University is progressing very swiftly. He urged the students to join the Start Up India Programme and become entrepreneurs. Then they will be able to employ people instead of searching employment.

Main speaker Ex Chairman, University Grants Commission & current Education Adviser, Honourable Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh Govt., Prof. D.P. Singh, whiel addressing the students said that they are entering a new phase of life in which the challenges will also be new. If they keep delivering their best with true loyalty, honesty and skills, the success will definitely belong to them. He said that the role of the university is always significant in making the morality and imparting modern knowledge to the students. He said that the New Education Policy (N.E.P.)-2020 has included all the qualities of education and this policy will be the key to success for our education policy.

Speaking over the occasion, MLA, Dharampur, Vinod Chamoli, while congratulating the students receiving degrees said that the students must ensure their roles in social welfare and improving the society. He highly praised the valuable contribution of SGRR Education Mission in imparting quality education at affordable price in Uttarakhand.

5,386 STUDENTS AWARDED WITH DEGREES AT THE CONVOCATION CEREMONY

5,386 students were awarded degrees at the First Convocation Ceremony of Shri Guru Ram University. Out of these, 218 meritorious students were awarded with Gold Medals. Out the students, awarded with Gold Medals, 62 students were of Graduation while 156 students were of Post Graduation. Along with these, 34 researchers were awarded with Ph. D. degrees. In the Convocation Ceremony, four students of SGRR University were also awarded with Chancellor Trophies.The students smiled with happiness on being honoured with degrees and medals.

FOUR STUDENTS HONOURED WITH CHANCELLOR TROPHIES

In the Convocation Ceremony, Four students were honoured with Chancellor Trophies. These students were Hari Sigh Gariya of School of Basic & Applied Sciences, and three students from School of Computer Application & Information Technology. Out of the three students of School of Computer Application & Information Technology, Nidhi Yadav was from Master of Computer Applications

Course while Drishtant Sharma and Satyam Singh were from Bachelor of Computer Applications Course.

CULTURAL PROGRAMMES ORGANIZED

The enthusiasm and happiness of the First Convocation Ceremony of Shri Guru Ram Rai University was clearly visible on the faces of the students as well as the faculties. Various cultural programmes were also organized to mark the occasion of the First Convocation Ceremony of SGRR University. The combination of Convocation Ceremony with Cultural programmes was admired by everyone. All the students that got degrees and medals in the ceremony ensured their equal participation in the cultural programmes and enjoyed them in deep.

In the end of the Convocation Ceremony, Registrar, Shri Guru Ram Rai University gave the Vote of Thanks to all eth distinguished guests. He wished a successful future to all the students and urged them to prove responsible citizens and good human beings.

The Convocation Ceremony was also marked by the auspicious presence of SGRR University’s Academic Coordinator Dr. Malvika Kanpal, Dr. R.P. Singh, Dean Research Dr. Professor Lokesh Gambhir, Dean Students Welfare Professor Kanchan Joshi, IQAC Director Dr. Suman Vij, Prof. Kumud Saklani, Dr. Manoj Gahlot, Deans of all the schools, HODs of all the deptts., faculties, staff members and huge number of students of Shri Guru Ram Rai University.

ALUMNI MEET ORGANIZED

The Alumni Meet was organized by Shri Guru Ram Rai University Alumni Association. President of Alumni Association, Dr. Vipul Jain informed that the Alumni Meet for ex students of Shri Guru Ram Rai University was clubbed up with the First Convocation Ceremony by Alumni Association. In the Alumni Meet, ex students of SGRR University who are now holding significant positions in reputed organizations participated with utmost enthusiasm and shared their experiences.

Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji sent his best wishes message for the bright future of the alumni of the university. The Alumni Meet was also marked by the auspicious presence of SGRR University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. U.S. Rawat, Registrar Ajay Kumar Khanduri, Vice President, Alumni Association Dr. Parul Goyal and Alumni Association members Dr. Divya Verma and Mandeep Narang.
