World Soil Day was organized under the aegis of the School of Agricultural Sciences at Sri Guru Ram Rai University. On this occasion, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SGRR University Professor (Dr.) U.S. Rawat emphasized that soil as an important component of the natural system and there is a need to address growing challenges in soil management, fighting the loss of soil biodiversity, raising soil awareness, and encouraging organizations, communities, and individuals.
On this occasion, Dean Professor (Dr.) Priyanka Bankoti threw light on the background of World Soil Day and the commitment of our duties towards soil health.
Dr. AK Saxena, Associate professor, Department of Soil Science, conducted the program and gave information related to maintenance of soil health in view of sustainable agriculture. During the program, 25 farmers received training on soil testing and preparation of organic fertilizers.
During the programme, Dr. Hitendra Kumar, Dr. Suneeta Singh, Dr. Girish Chandra, Dr. V.K. Singh, Dr. Deepak Som, Dr.Moinnudin, Dr Shobha Bisht, Dr.HemankiDabral, Shagun Gupta, Megha Suman, Shalini Sharma, Atul Nainwal, Abhishek Tiwari and farmers were present.
