Department of Seed Science and Technology was established in 2018 under the School of Agricultural Sciences, SGRR University. The department has made significant achievements during the last five years in the field of teaching, research and extension. Post Graduate program was started in the academic session 2020 - 21. The prime objective of the department is to provide quality education to undergraduate & postgraduate students, conducting training & research programs and conservation of germplasm.
Facilities
Department having well equipped seed testing laboratory, large scale seeds production area, threshing floors, seed storage and other facilities to carryout teaching, research and training programs. To protect the seeds varieties particularly traditional varieties of Uttarakhand, Department has established a mid-term and short-term storage seed bank.
Well - equipped seed testing, plant breeding, Seed Biotechnology, Seed Physiology, Storage and Seed Health Testing laboratories.

To enhance the Pulse seeds production, under National Seedhub project, collaboration with G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand since 2018.
RESEARCH PROJECT:
Department at present handling two research project, one funded by Uttarakhand Council for Biotechnology to enhance the potato production through hydroponic techniques and second funded by SGRRU to evaluate the performance and conservation of different types of French bean genotypes grown in Uttarakhand hills.
