OVERVIEW
The Department of Geology is an essential entity of the School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Since this department was established in 2017, due to the constant efforts made by the concerned staff and faculty members under able leadership, the department has been progressing in all domains of higher learning. All the faculty of our department are highly qualified and having sound knowledge of their subject.

The Five Batches of Geology is passed out from 2017 to till date.

In the past years local as well as International Student admission is also successfully admitted in M.Sc. Geology.

In The past several years from the Department of Geology, of SGRRU most of our students excel in their respective discipline either in the area of competitive examinations like NET/GATE/SLET etc. for entry in higher education or qualifying in Govt. /private job sector.

The program is led by experienced and well qualified faculties with expertise in the domains of Structural Geology, Geohydrology, Economic Geology, Igneous & Metamorphic Petrology, Tectonics and Remote Sensing, etc.

We have every year conducted educational geological field tour (7-10 days) to learn different aspect of geology in terms of stratigraphy, tectonic and formation with geological time scale in different out station tour like Kutch (Gujrat), Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Udaipur (Rajasthan) and Local geological field tour in and around Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Mussoorie and Roorkee etc.

The Department organised several GSI tutorial Lecture series with the help of eminent speakers form outside.

Many students of our department placed in GSI, ONGC, GAIL, RVNL Ltd., Geocentroid Pvt. Ltd.

We also arrange expert Guest Lecture series from the various resource person outside form the University.
